Sanford Hall at Georgia Southern in Statesboro, GA dates back to 1936. Originally a mens dormitory located on the famed Sweetheart Circle of the University it was recently renovated to house the Communication Arts Department. Lord Aeck Sargent was selected by Georgia Southern University in partnership with Palmer Architects to take on the task of resurrecting this historical building. While special attention was taken to preserve the exterior, the interior was adapted with large steel supports to create open, column free classrooms, two story rooms and and catwalk through the television and radio studios. The Project is LEED Certified and won and Innovation Award for Adapted Reuse. It’s great when our photography can play a small role in helping our clients win awards!
